A Bit About Us.

A.C.T. Occupational Therapy was founded by Occupational Therapist, Sophie Stines. The business stemmed from Sophie's love of working in aged and disability care and her desire to make a positive change to the lives of adults and older people in Canberra and the surrounding regions.

Sophie graduated at University of Canberra in 2013 with a Masters in Occupational Therapy, having previously completed a Bachelor in Coaching Science.

She has had a range of experiences within disability and aged care which combined allow her to think creatively and push boundaries. Added with her academic history this provides a unique Occupational Therapy service. Occupational Therapy in aged care is currently dominated by equipment prescription and pain management but A.C.T. Occupational Therapy is moving in a different direction and focusing on what our clients want to do and what will make their lives richer and more enjoyable. This approach is taken when working with adults as well, to ensure everyone is living the fullest life possible.

Our Philosophy.

Our logo is a 'Lily of the Valley' flower, which signifies a return to happiness. The meaning of this was discovered during the development phase of the company and it immediately struck a chord with Sophie. While we do not believe or assume that all disabled or older people need to return to happiness, it does encompass our aim of fostering happiness and purpose in the lives of those we work with. Through happiness, we aim to achieve fulfillment for our clients and a better quality of life.
